Welcome to First LEGO League ROBOTICS at St. Joseph School!
Please note: We are taking a hiatus for the 2017 Competition Season. We hope to have our FLL team up and running again next fall!
Our FLL team competed at the regional tournament on November 19, 2016! SJS Lazer Dolphins worked well together, scoring well in the Core Values, Project Presentation, and Robot Design categories. It was a very challenging Robot Game course this year. While we won't be going on to the state tournament level this time around, all of our members learned a lot about programming, research, and the essential bond between humans and animals in this year's challenge. Congratulations on a great season!
History In 2015, we launched two teams in our very first year in the First Lego League Robotics program. Teams NovaShock and EagleStorm met after school on Fridays. Our coaches: Mr. Bergantine, Mr. Reyes-Cuerva, Mrs. Breault, Mrs. Anne Graham, and mentor Mrs. LaPlume worked hard to help our teams get ready for their qualifying tournaments, and then, the State Championship! At the State Championship on January 16, both teams performed very well in the judging of: Project research, problem solving, and presentation, Core Values, and Robot Design. Both teams also bested their previous high scores from their robot games at the qualifying tournaments! It was especially gratifying to see NovaShock selected from the 40 teams present to receive the Gracious Professionalism Award. It is given to the team that most emphasizes the value of others, respects individuals and the community, all while encouraging high quality work. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another and other teams with respect and kindness in the process.
